Celebrating Adoption Photo Session: 3 Months

My favorite time of the month is when I get to do a Celebrating Adoption Photo Shoot to help another family welcome an adopted child into their family.

I hung out with another family that I met through the Bethany community. Dad had to work, but I got the chance to photograph Mom and Little Man doing what they do every day at home. It was great.

Here's Little Man playing in his bouncy seat while Mom made his bottle.

Mom is so proud of her baby. Can't you tell by this smile she is smitten?

I loved how when she burped him, he hugged her arm. So sweet. Makes me miss my "little baby" days with Norah.

Little Man definitely loves his Mom right back. Look at them cracking up at each other.

He wears some very stylish and eco-friendly cloth diapers. We liked how his little tummy sticks over them.

Baby toes - as good as it gets. They don't stay this small for long.

Who knew putting your socks on could be this fun?

Time to settle down for a nap. All of this playing wears a guy out.

Corwin's 9 Month Portraits

Mr. Corwin - the first of my three 9 month old's coming up in the next week. He's the oldest, and definitely the most handsome. He has really grown since his last session at 6 months. Sigh...time has begun to just fly by.

Norah's 6 Month Portraits

Lanie Ann at 6 Months

Miss Lanie Ann is 6 months old. She is such a beautiful girl and I love her so much. She sat up so big for us and just smiled and batted her eyes at her Nana and I think Mommy will be so proud!

And of course, big brother Landon got in on the action.

It was a fun and busy day but so worth it! Love you guys.

Sophia, 6 Month Photos in Smyrna

Have you ever seen such a sweet face?

Meet Miss Sophia, a bright-eyed and happy 6 month old baby girl who has style like you wouldn't believe.

Sophia's family owns the Poshtachio Patch, a children's boutique here in Smyrna. If you're ever looking for something adorable for your child to wear...this is the place to go!

This bench that Sophia is sitting on is a family heirloom. It dates back to the 1800's.

Nothing like drooling on an antique to start your day!

I think this might be my favorite shot from the day. Sophia's nursery is a designer's dream. Doesn't she look so fancy in her bed with her jewelry and Baby Bling headband?

Sophia wanted me to remind everyone that there are only 48 shopping days left until Christmas. Santa needs your help.

Beckey Twins, 9 Month Photos

The Beckey's are such a sweet family. This is a collage of photos I took of them when they were just a few weeks old.

Hadley Jane, 18 Month Portraits in Smyrna

I can't believe it's been a whole year since I took this photo of beautiful Hadley Jane.

We met out at the Sam Davis Home for Hadley's 18 Month session this past week. It was great weather and we actually found some Fall leaves there!

Hadley is a happy girl, but it usually takes her a little while to warm up to me since we don't see each other often. We played a little peek-a-boo and she was all smiles.

Sweet Mary Elizabeth, almost 3 months

Remember these guys from a few posts back? Well Norah and I spent the day with the girls on Friday and had a few minutes to photograph little Mary Elizabeth.

Mini Session - Wakefield Family

Last post about Mini Sessions and it is hands down my favorite. I love it when someone allows me total creative freedom, and that is just what Christy did when she brought her girls Audrey & Davey to me for photos.

Almost Five Months Old...

My baby girl will be five months old on Saturday! Can you believe it? She looked so cute in her little RED onesie this morning before school that I had to snap a few photos. More on our family blog.

A day in the life of Sydney Laine, 4 months old

It's happening.

My wedding clients have started having babies. I feel like a proud Auntie as I watch these wonderful families grow.

Everyone knows Jeremy & Nickie from their first dance below, since it has been one of my signature images since it was shot last July.

Saturday morning, I got the honor of joining these two at their home in Memphis as they woke up their sweet 4 month old baby girl Sydney and got her day started.

We got in a little pajama time

Changing into her play clothes for the day. Sydney was born on my fifth wedding anniversary, which was 3 weeks before Norah was born. It will be so fun to see them grow together.

Rolling around on the floor with Daddy. This is one of my favorite shots. Sydney can almost roll from her back to her tummy but that arm gets in the way!

A snack break was in order. Jeremy & Nickie were telling me that Sydney always puts her hands up like this when she is taking her bottle.

Since the weather is finally bearable once again, we had to run outside for a minute to play.

This is such a typical dad thing to do...I love it.

Adie's 9 Month Portraits

I traveled to little Miss Adie's (said like "lady") house in Morrison yesterday for some 9 month portraits. I knew we were going to be a great fit for each other when her Mom Marian stepped outside to greet me, and we were both wearing our Chuck Taylor's and the same pair of jeans! Anyway, Jason and Adie were hanging out inside, so I headed in to see what they were doing.

Adie was playing around in the family room. She is such a beautiful girl. You can't even tell that she wasn't feeling that great.

Aren't they a sweet family?

We stepped outside for a few shots. The sky was so blue, the grass so green and the air was fresh and comfortable. It was almost surreal after the scorching summer we've had.

We went back inside to calm things down a bit. Adie loves to be read to.

OK another favorite

Adie's room is straight out of Pottery Barn Kids catalog, with several personal touches. The tree on the wall is beautiful, but from what I understand a labor of love to get it up there.

Hank's Newborn Photos

I got to take some pictures of my nephew Hank at one week old on Wednesday. He is already wearing size one diapers, so he was hardly small, but he is still a new baby. He didn't much curl left in him though. Some of these pics look like a 2 month old laying there!

As soon as I saw these stars I instantly wanted to take this picture.

Sweet baby boy. He loves doing this with his lips.

My sister-in-law Shai is one of the most beautiful girls I know. She would never admit it or act like it, but she lights up a room with her smile and sparkly eyes, and her genuine care for others. I could cry now...but Shai I am so thankful that we are "sisters" and that we get to raise these little babies together. I love you! Done crying now.

Corwin's 3 Month Portraits

Tis the season for babies. I went to Corwin's house in Smyrna for his 3 month portrait session last week. He is such a sweet boy who loves his Mama. Here's a picture of Corwin and Tracie snuggling together.

Corwin's nursery is very cool in brown and green.

Corwin was a good sport and stayed awake for our traditional shots that will be used in his baby panel (3, 6, 9 and 12 month shots all framed together), but once he fell asleep, I kept on shooting. This is very common for newborn and 3 month sessions - awake and asleep photos.

Sweet little tiny feet.

You'll be seeing a lot more of Corwin and his family over the next couple of years. I also love that Corwin is the first in a long line of 3 month olds that I will be photographing in the next several weeks, including Norah. It's cool to know that these will be the kids that will grow up and become great friends with my baby girl.

A little bird told me...

Little Norah is growing fast.

I will be back to work from my attempt at a mini-maternity leave the week of August 20. I am reading emails at least once a day, so if you have an immediate, time-sensitive need/request, I will do everything I can to take care of you. The only things I am shooting until then are weddings and related sessions (engagement, bridal, FHEO).

I have a ton of folks waiting to schedule (or re-schedule) a baby/kids/family session for September & October. I will have limited appointment times when I return, so if you are interested in booking an appointment you need to email me now so I can try and fit you in. Especially if you're interested in peak leaves week - typically the last week of October/first week of November, but that might change since it's been SO dry this year.

Lanie Ann's Newborn Portraits

Here's little Lanie Ann, 3 weeks old and looking beautiful. Of course she stays decked out in her bow (if you're looking for some tips on keeping a bow in newborn hair, just ask - it's not as hard as you think...) and her baby jewelry. So sweet and dainty, she is the perfect complement to this family.

Christy's wedding band shows you how small those tiny toes are.

Here's Lanie Ann wearing her Great Grandmother's baby ring and a monogrammed bracelet. Lanie Ann was named after her Great Grandmother, Ann McMurray Cooper (otherwise known to everyone, myself included, as "Grandmother.")

Oh yes. And then there's the proud Big Brother Landon. Brad has taken to simply calling him "Big." He is playing the role perfectly. It wasn't hard to get him to hold her and kiss on her at all!

I think Landon already looks way older than these pictures that we took in late February for his birthday party invitations.

Christy and I are working on a beautiful custom designed birth announcement for Lanie Ann, so these pics are ones that aren't getting used on it. I bet you can't wait to see the rest!!! Watch your mailbox - I hope you're on the list!

Rylie Grace at 18 Months, on the farm in Brentwood

Do you remember a day in the life of Rylie Grace? I hung out with this sweet family back in November when Rylie Grace was a year old. I was so excited when Kerrie emailed about doing some Spring pictures to capture her at 18 months.

We shot this session at this gorgeous farmhouse in Brentwood (it's for sale...the link is the MLS info in case you're interested!). I love how my clients take me to the most beautiful places for sessions. I loved hearing Rylie Grace talking up a storm...she even said "Alison" which is a challenge for most kids because it's 3 syllables. She's advanced!

These geese (or "ducks") were fascinating. We spent a lot of time following them.

Mmm this sweet dress was my favorite (though all of Rylie Grace's outfits are always adorable).

This is one of my favorite shots. I think it would make the best giclee print, something I am now offering for my portrait clients...

Happy First Birthday Hadley Jane

I am so happy to share a few of sweet Hadley Jane's 1 Year Portraits with you. We had a fun afternoon at Cannonsburgh in Murfreesboro this past week. I can't believe how much she has grown from the last time I saw her.

I love her MTSU dress. Go Blue Raiders!

This is a priceless face! This cute little outfit came from Daddy's trip to the practice round of the Masters golf tournament this year.

Aww sweet girl.

Mom Jodi mentioned that Hadley sucks her fingers and holds her blanket to calm herself before sleeping. We had played hard all afternoon and she was starting to grow tired.

We ventured over to the creek before heading for the house, and Hadley loved getting her feet wet. She kept leaning forward to try and get closer to the water, causing Dad to jump towards her and Mom's blood pressure to go up! She is very happy here, but she cried when we made her get out of the water.

We went back to Hadley's house to do a few "formal" shots in her birthday dress. She wasn't exactly interested in smiling for the camera and holding her balloons like we had hoped, but we managed to grab some pleasant shots anyway! HA!

Next time you see Hadley, she'll almost be a big sister! Congratulations to Josh & Jodi, expecting their second baby in September.

Bradley's One Year Portrait Session

Another BynumPhoto Baby turns one! Bradley was such a good boy today. Of course, he is all smiles every time I photograph him. Check him out at three, six and nine months.

He was so quick to climb up on top of this stool. Then he was very proud of himself!

Kelly stripped him down for a few pictures with his birthday cake, and while she was getting the cake ready, he climbed back onto the stool. I love this picture!

This was my first time to photograph a baby with a cake. The white backdrop went straight into the washer after we were finished!

The results of the cake pictures are awesome! I can't wait to do little Hadley's one year session and her cake pictures next week!

Bewley Family Portraits in Antioch

Tim, Holly and bright-eyed baby McClain came out to Turner Farms today for their family portrait session and McClain's 6 month photos. We couldn't have asked for a better day. Just perfect for exploring the outdoors together as a family!

I picked this shot as one of my favorites because it is such a "dad" thing to do. How many times do you see a dad flip their little one upside down, as mom gasps? So cute.

Holly wisely chose blue as the color theme of their outfits today because it definitely accentuated the blue in McClain's eyes.

His eyes were so yummy that I could hardly stand to back off of them while photographing, but I did manage to pull myself away to catch this detail shot of his little feet in the grass.

McClain smiles big like this when mom or dad start singing "Jesus loves me" or "Jesus loves the little children." He is a sweet soul already!

We were going for a couple tummy shots, but rolling around was much more fun.

Happy First Birthday Sophie

I had so much fun today celebrating Sophie's first birthday party at her home in Murfreesboro. Her Mom, Lorrie, gave Martha Stewart a run for her money, by planning the most adorable "shabby chic" birthday party that I have ever seen. Her whole house is like looking at an inspiration board for style mixed with function. I just love it!

I first met this sweet family when I shot some pictures for them back in September. It was a pleasant surprise to be asked to share in this special day. Here's some sneak previews...enough to tide you over until I return from Belize.

Here's the birthday girl, enjoying her party. Don't you love the hats? Each little guy and girl had one of their own with their name embroidered on it.

I love this shot, showing the motion that surrounded the table of 1 year old's and their moms trying to keep them clean and in their chairs, and drinking from their own cup, etc.

Here's Reagan (there's two of those) enjoying her cupcake. This Reagan is the oldest of the bunch at 18 months.

Here's the whole bunch. It was such a beautiful day outside - perfect weather for a stroll with friends.

Here's Matthew and the other Reagan. You'll remember Matthew from this post when he was just a few weeks old and this post at 3 months. I can't believe he's almost one too! Miss Reagan was sound asleep when she arrived at the party, but she woke up and joined in the fun after a little while.

This is Julia, and I love this picture because of how her little tummy is sticking out. Oh, to be young and innocent and not care... I love it! I met Julia and her Mom Terri at Ryan & Lindsey's Wedding in July.

This is sweet little Claire, who devoured her cupcake face first and loved every bite. I know her parents Jimmy & Sarah from working at the Boys & Girls Club for so many years. Here's Sarah helping Claire with the "big kids" slide!
