Dana's Bridal Portraits at Rippaville Plantation

No peeking at Dana's Bridal Portraits until after her wedding day!

Sorry that I can't share them yet, but I can TELL you how awesome she looked, and I can also TELL you what a perfect location the Rippavilla Plantation was for our session. If you've never been out there (and I had not), it would be a great day trip for history buffs. It's out in Spring Hill - easily accessed from I-840 to I-65 to Saturn Pkwy.

Anyway - Dana, you looked beautiful and I am so happy for you. It will be my pleasure to photograph your wedding to Sean this October. I am really looking forward to it!

The Boys Are Back In Town...9 Month Portraits

Will and Jonah are good buddies and they came over today for their 9 month pictures. I was blessed to be at the hospital when both of these babies were born, and I have been watching them grow ever since. I am amazed at how their personalities develop more and more each time I see them. Though 9 months has been the most challenging session for me and the Moms so far, our efforts were not in vain - we have precious images that will be treasured by all in the years to come.

First was Mr. Will. We're working on a Baby's First Year Panel of him in his overalls, so this first one would be perfect for that. Then he always brings in something seasonal, and this time it was his swim-float and smashing bright green speedo. We really wanted a picture of Will with his Uncle Jared's pet goldfish, Wallace, but it didn't work out for us this time. Uncle Jared will keep Wallace looking fine and dandy until our 1-year session in October.

Next is Jonah, and his Baby's First Year Panel is going to be in black & white, so here's a shot of him sitting up so big on the stool. And I couldn't resist posting this one of Jonah's big blue eyes and his little teeth peeking out.

Jonah's big brother Eli had to get in on the action, so I am posting this one because I know he'll be checking out the pictures on the computer with his Mommy. Hey Eli!

And finally, I did find one "person" who didn't mind having her picture made with Wallace the Goldfish...

Brad & Melissa's Engagement Photos in Smyrna

Meet Brad & Melissa, who will be married at Smyrna First United Methodist Church on October 7. We met out at the Sam Davis Home, where their reception will be, for a quick engagement shoot last night. We had a brief sprinkle of rain, not enough to cool us off, but these guys were so cute together that we didn't have to endure the heat for too long to get some great images.

Full gallery will be released on Pictage in a couple weeks.

Owen is growin'...He's 6 months old!

I love getting the opportunity to be a Baby Photographer, especially when it's right here in Smyrna, Tennessee! I hung out with the Graves Family for Owen's 6 Month Session. I got to photograph Emily when Owen was still in her tummy, and then again right after he was born, and I look forward to many more sessions. Geoff wasn't home when we did our last session, so he got to participate today and did an excellent job as a prop, poser and cuddler.

I think the picture of Owen sitting up on the bed might be my favorite from the day, but I haven't gone through everything in detail, so I can't be certain. There's more to come...he was so sweet. Thanks for letting me photograph your family today!

Ashley's Senior Pictures in Murfreesboro

I remember when Ashley was a baby, and now she is a Senior at Smyrna High School. Wow. She is a beautiful girl with a great sense of humor and we had fun last night for her Senior Portrait Session at Cannonsburgh in Murfreesboro. We had awesome light - some of my favorite shots are the ones where the sun is highlighting her hair. Here are a few early favorites, but there are a TON more that I just don't have time to share. Slideshow coming soon...

**Website Update: The Old site is down, but the new one is not up yet. Stay tuned for the new site and remember, first person to let me know it is up wins the prize!**

Bynum Photography Kids Website

The website drama is continuing but progressing. I had a hard time sleeping last night because I thought my current website would go down at 12:00AM today, but when I got out of bed and checked, it is still there. This is a relief.

I did receive word this morning also that my domain name transfer was successful. Now I have updated the Name Servers (I am learning a lot, huh?) and I am just waiting for them to be - cool word - propagated! Then my new sites will appear. ***CONTEST*** The first person to email me at when the new site appears at will receive either a free lifestyle portrait session ($195) or a $100 print credit towards ordering prints from your session on Pictage. Let the games begin!

Until next post, here's a picture of the homepage of my BynumPhoto Kids site. There are 5 home page images, and currently the Stewart Family is the featured image on the "Family" section. That's my favorite image from their whole session.

How beautiful is Dawn?

I don't have much more to say but "WOW" because Dawn looked so beautiful today when she stopped by for some head shots. Dawn is writing and editing for Home Life Magazine and needed a picture for when she has articles published. We did over a hundred shots, so I can't wait to pick up a copy of the magazine and find out which one she chooses.

Domain Name & Email Stress...

The day is drawing near for my old website to expire. I am terrified that it is going to go down before my new site comes up. Please bear with me during this transition.

To be safe, if you need to contact me until the new site goes live, please use my personal email address, My business address is linked to my site, and if the site goes down I believe the email will also.

Until then, enjoy this preview of what the new home page will look like. Actually, the home page for the weddings site will have a slideshow of images and this is just one of them.

Chattanooga Wedding with the Holritz's

Here's a few shots I got at the Sutherland's wedding in Chattanooga last weekend. The last one is poor Amber shooting with her broken wrist. She did a great job despite the injury. See more images from the day on the Holritz's Blog.

Cox Family Portraits in Murfreesboro

I got to hang out with the Cox Family last night and had a great time with them! Mom Christy is so beautiful. She has this joy that naturally radiates from her face. Little Joshua has just started Kindergarten and he was eager to tell me about it. We became buddies pretty quickly.

Thanks for allowing me to photograph your sweet family David & Christy. I had a lot of fun!

Wedding with the Holritz's

This is what you look like after shooting an awesome wedding for 12+ hours in August in Chattanooga, Tennessee. My friend Amber fell and broke her wrist this week and she and Nathan needed some help for their wedding this weekend so I was honored to be invited to help. Nathan & Amber are some of the best photographers I know - I really learned a lot from observing how they work a wedding together. It is a special thing to be able to work so well with your spouse. What fun.

I shot RAW images (for you technical folks) this weekend and that's not what I usually do, so the Holritz's are processing them and sending me a copy and I don't have anything to share just yet. So, enjoy this sweaty picture of me & the Holritz's at about 12:30am on Sunday morning, before we went to the IHOP for "dinner."

New website update - looks like it could be tomorrow...wahoo!

New Website Launching Soon...

I have been teasing you about this for a while but I think it is finally going to happen. I have been working really hard to get this finished by the middle of August, because the time on my old site is almost up. Can you believe that it will be two years on August 20 that I have had a business and web presence? It gives me a feeling of great accomplishment. Scripture tells us, "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Phillipians 1:6) I give God the glory for the good work that has happened through this very small photography business in the past two years, in my life and in the lives of others. Apart from Him I am nothing.

This brings me to the photo of Ryan Horne that you see here, which I did not take. But Ryan is a local up and coming artist who is using his talent to glorify God as well. He has been generous enough to share his wonderful talents with Bynum Photography website viewers. Each of my new sites will have one of Ryan's songs playing in the background as you view the images. If you like what you hear, I encourage you to buy his music from his website or even off of iTunes. It's great music. Thanks Ryan!

Stay tuned for info about the new sites.

Congratulations Khris & Carmen

Wow. Khris and Carmen were married yesterday in a stylish Jewish Wedding Ceremony at Two Rivers Mansion in Nashville, Tennessee. Steph and I had a lot of fun with the wedding party and enjoyed photographing all of the cool details that were planned for this event.

Carmen's gown was a Watters design, and her gorgeous bouquet was by Bella Rose Floral Design in Murfreesboro.

Have you ever seen such awesome bridesmaids dresses? I loved their color palette of this bright green and deep purples.

We stole away for some cool images towards the end of the reception. I love how natural and raw Khris & Carmen's emotions were at this point of the day.

Another special part of the wedding was the dress that Carmen left the wedding in. It was her mother's wedding dress, that her mother re-constructed (cut it off, re-did the sleeves, etc.). It was so adorable!

Thanks for letting us be a part of your big day!

PS. Check out some of Stephanie's favorite shots on her blog.

Beautiful Wedding at Woodmont Christian Church

I had a lot of fun yesterday as a second shooter for Andrea at Ashley & Grant's beautiful wedding at Woodmont Christian Church. I didn't know the couple very well, but they were adorable and had a lot of fun together at their wedding.

The first photo is one of the flower girls watching Ashley put on her dress. The second photo is Grant, the groom, watching Ashley as Andrea was taking her picture. Then there's a cool shot of the cake. Ashley's sorority sisters (Delta Delta Delta) serenaded her with a special song. And the last photo is from the 5 minutes that we braved the heat for some outdoor photos. I think it was worth it!

I am shooting a Jewish wedding today at Two Rivers Mansion in Nashville, and I am very excited about it! Check back tomorrow for a sneak preview!

Thanks So Much, DJ

We had the greatest time at the TN PUG Thursday night, and we are so happy that David Jay was able to be with us. Here's just a couple pics of our night (from my point & shoot) from our time together.

Edit: I added a "self-portrait" by Nathan of me, Amber, DJ and Nathan. Thanks for taking that one. I love seeing DJ in a TNPUG t-shirt! Can't wait until we all go to LA in September and can see each other again!

Thursday night we are thrilled to welcome David Jay to our Nashville PUG meeting. He is one of the young hot wedding photojournalists from Santa Barbara, CA and he will be sharing all of his tips and tricks for a "hands-free" workflow. Can't wait!
