Happy Birthday Sophie

We stopped by the Smyrna Library Park this afternoon for Sophie's 1st Birthday Party. She looked lovely in a little dress that her Aunt Amy made for her, and we all enjoyed the beautiful and yummy cake that Joy created. It was windy and cool, but that didn't stop the party and we all had a great time. Happy Birthday Sophie!

Proud Daughter

I am a proud daughter tonight! My mom, Karen, ran the Country Music 1/2 Marathon this morning in downtown Nashville. It was an awesome feeling to see her come across the finish line.

Maddie inspired me...

I had fun with Maddie today during our session at the Sam Davis Home in Smyrna. We walked around to several different areas and she was very good to be still and smile and do everything like I asked. But, Leah was sharing that Maddie is always very full of energy, and it got me thinking that the "stand still and smile" pictures were not totally capturing who she is...

So Maddie inspired me to encourage her to cut loose and run and twirl and laugh. I LOVE this shot. Over all of the sweet posed pictures we took today, this one is my favorite. You could put any caption on it - like "Joy" or "Freedom" or "Fun," but I thought "Maddie" was the perfect title for this image.

More photos from Will's Adoption Day

What a great day we had on Friday with Will & his family, witnessing his adoption and also at his fun party!

Congratulations Karrick & Deborah!

I just finished shooting a beautiful wedding just outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan, where Karrick & Deborah were united in marriage this afternoon. This is a shot we got when we went with the entire wedding party out to a park between the ceremony and reception. We traveled in style in a stretch Hummer and had a blast dancing at the reception.

It took a major effort to make it here on time. When we got home from Will's Adoption Party (photos to come from that event also), we got a call that my flight for this morning was cancelled and that I had been rescheduled for a flight that would arrive in Detroit way after the time I was supposed to start this wedding. So I stayed up really late to cancel that flight and scramble to find one on a different airline to get me here on time. Fortunately, Delta got me here by 11:30 AM. I am pre-selected for extra screenings at the airport because my tickets were booked at the last minute, so it was a joy to have all of my equipment unpacked and repacked in front of everyone at the airport. I will probably do it again tomorrow on my way home.

Flying out of Detroit at 8:00 AM, and plan to be back for church during second hour if I can keep my eyes open. I just don't want to miss Pat's next Da Vinci Code sermon. To learn more about that series, visit FBC Smyrna.

Taz is growing up

On Tuesday afternoon, Taz and his Mom & Dad and I went for a walk at the Rock Springs Neighborhood Park in Smyrna. He is a handsome little guy, and he and his Daddy were a perfect match in navy polo shirts and khaki shorts. I can't believe that he is 3 months old already.

Congratulations Will Norris!

Congratulations to Will, who officially became a Norris today at his adoption finalization in Murfreesboro. He slept through most of the technical chatter in court, and through the photos, but woke up a new man.

"in love He destined us for adoption to Himself..." Ephesians 1:5

Congratulations!

Fun with Family

This first photo is my brother Kyle (24) and my sister Reagan (10) and me at my grandparents' house this afternoon. We hung out over there after lunch, hiding and hunting Easter eggs for a couple hours. I lost every time...but days like these are what memories are made of, and I loved every minute of it.

The second photo is of me and Brad, cuddling in the porch swing. That's Brad making his serious face, because he was thrilled to be in another picture. And me, being my normal self.

He is risen indeed

"Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to see the tomb. Suddenly there was a great earthquake because an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and rolled away the stone and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was a white as snow. The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint.

Then the angel of the Lord spoke to the women. "Don't be afraid!" he said. " I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn't here! He has been raised from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying."

Slideshow Question...

Please respond to this question by leaving a comment. To do that, click the "Comments" link at the end of this post and then answer my question and submit.

Are you able to view complete slideshows without any errors when I post the links on my blog?

I am only asking because my husband was telling me last night that they give him an error about half-way through and he isn't able to watch them. I got another email about this as well. But I also get emails that say "how wonderful, I loved the slideshow, etc." so I know others aren't having issues.

So, please let me know how it goes for you. I only know how it looks on my own computer, and it's always fine on my end.

Thank you! (Now comment with your response, please.)

Go Vols!

With all of the craziness going on in my life right now, I breezed past last week's session with this cool group of cousins and forgot to post their picture. It's going to be a Mother's/Father's Day gift for the grandparents of this bunch. These cuties were well-dressed and full of life during the session! It was fun.

Holli & Scott's Wedding Slideshow

This is one of Holli's Bridal Portraits from our session last week. As I said in my previous post, I really enjoyed spending Saturday with Scott & Holli for their Wedding Ceremony at Brentwood Baptist Church, and the reception following at Vanderbilt Legends Golf Club.

Click here to enjoy a slideshow of Holli & Scott's big day on Saturday. If you're on a slower internet connection, give it time to load. The show is about 3 minutes long and has music. Email it out to other friends you know who might be interested using the link at the bottom of the page!

Working with Friends...

On Saturday I was so happy to spend the day shooting Holli & Scott Ewing's beautiful wedding at Brentwood Baptist Church, and the reception following at Vanderbilt Legends Golf Club. A slideshow of the day will be posted in the next several days.

One of the best parts of the day was having excellent help to provide the best coverage possible to Holli & Scott. Phil & Mindy Thornton of Thornton-Photo were my second shooters for the day, and we really had a fun time together. The unique part of our relationship is that I shot Phil & Mindy's wedding last July, and now they are entering the profession. It's such a fun job, maybe everybody should do it! If you are interested in photography and would like to learn for a hobby or maybe for a career, the best advice I received and that I can give is just DO IT. Get out there and practice by tagging along with someone. You can tag along with me, and I am sure Phil & Mindy would love the help too.

Anyway, there will be several more posts about the Ewing's big day as I move along in editing.

After the storm...

Yesterday's storms brought lots of damage to much of the greater Nashville area. I spent the afternoon at my Mom's, helping her pack in preparation for her move next week. After waiting out most of the storms, I ventured home, just in time to see this on I-24E around LaVergne.

You're probably not aware of the significance of end-to-end rainbows to our family, but they are very special. We used to travel a lot with my grandmother (Mom's Mom) and on the last trip we took together, we saw an end-to-end rainbow for the first time. It was awesome. When my grandmother passed away unexpectedly, it was a big loss to our family. The next trip we took, we saw another rainbow, and it just warmed our hearts because we felt a special connection with her.

The decision that my Mom had to make to sell part of her family's property was a very difficult one. We spent some time talking about this yesterday while we were packing. When I saw that rainbow on my way home, I couldn't wait to call my Mom and tell her, and she was looking at it too from her house. I said - maybe that's your sign that this was a good decision, and that your Mom knows and it's okay.
And maybe it was just the way the water and the sun and the clouds all worked together at that moment, but it brings comfort to us to remember her and to know that we will see her again one day.

Nashville PUG

I had a lot of fun with my fellow photographers at our Nashville PUG meeting tonight. Read more about it at TNPUG Blog. I went to the meeting in Chattanooga on Tuesday night, and it was fun as well.

Sad night on American Idol

I'm so sad that Mandisa was voted off of American Idol tonight. She was a wonderful singer and was a shining light for Jesus on prime time television.

Welcome Baby Joshua!

Rosie called this morning to let me know they were checking in to the hospital to prepare to have the baby. She was so pleased that he had decided to come on his own instead of being induced on Tuesday.

After progressing quickly and being relieved to receive her epidural, things slowed down quite a bit and Rosie & Dave didn't get down to business until about 7:30.

Rosie was so tired, but she toughed it out and Dave was right there with her the whole time, encouraging her and helping her along as much as possible. Joshua was born at 9:32PM. He has a head full of long black hair and was such a "rosy" pink color. The whole experience was just a miracle.

Click here for the slideshow. The show has music, and it's kind of rock & roll (like Dave & Rosie) so you might watch the volume if you're at work.

Webb School Prom

On Saturday night, Brad and I stepped back in time and went to the Prom! Actually, we photographed prom portraits for Webb School's Prom on the Music City Queen riverboat. We had a fun time and met lots of great kids. And I can say kids because I am a good ten years older than almost all of them! I will be posting a slideshow soon.

Baby Owen's Newborn Portraits

Owen was quite a sport for his newborn portrait session on Friday. He didn't get upset at all until the end when we rocked him to sleep and them woke him up. He had every right to be unhappy, with Mom & me disturbing his rest! Thanks Emily & Geoff for sharing him with me. Full coverage available soon!

Holli & Scott on a Sunny Day

Holli & Scott weren't sure if we would have time for outdoor portraits of just the two of them on their wedding day next Saturday, so they decided to dress up and have a little fun today. We went over to Ellington Agricultural Center in Nashville and had a great time. The pictures turned out great!

We kicked Scott out and then Holli changed into her wedding dress for her Bridal Portrait session. Can't show those today, but they were beautiful as well. Looking forward to next weekend guys! You're awesome.
