Happy Birthday Talley

I know you've all seen Talley in her tu-tu below, but I wanted to share this sweet photo collage of her in her Birthday Hat. I won't tell you how long it took before I caught her with it on her head, but I think it was well worth the effort.

Bridal Gala Wrap-Up

On Sunday we spent our day at Central Park in Murfreesboro for the Bridal Gala.
We met several brides-to-be, grooms-to-be and their supportive friends and families. I sincerely appreciate you stopping by to talk with us about this very exciting time in your life. Some folks were just engaged at Valentine's Day, and then there were some who have been planning their events for the past couple years. No matter where you are in the process, please let me know how I can help you make things easier.

I must express a BIG thank you to my husband, Brad, my Mom, Karen, Step-Dad, Bret and Sister-in-Law, Shai, for all of the help with loading, unloading, setting up, decorating, working, tearing down and bringing home the beautiful booth. My step-dad Bret designed and built the booth last year and we have received so many compliments on it...he is SO talented. Doing the show is a lot of hard work for my whole family, but it is definitely worth it for us to have the opportunity to share our work with you.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Marisa Sellinger, who won the Bridal Portrait Session at the Show. Marisa will receive a 2-hour Bridal Session, and an 11x14 Signature Series Portrait in a custom frame, valued at $300. Marisa and her fiance, Matthew Fisher, will be getting married in Washington DC in October. I am looking forward to our session, Marisa!

Wake up to Snow

Well, I was skeptical at bedtime, but we did in fact wake up to snow. This would normally be a cause for happiness and maybe a snowball or two. However, today is the big day for constructing our Bridal Gala booth and we have lots to get done today. Hopefully things will clear off and we can safely get in and out to get ready.

I am still optimistic - that's who I am - that we will be able to get around fine and the show will go as planned tomorrow. Hope to see you there! It's not too late to download your $2 off coupon here.

Talley is "tu-tu" cute!

In High School I was fortunate enough to have a really wonderful group of friends who shared my faith and values and were a big part of my life. We have worked hard to keep in touch as we (they) spread out all over the country for college, and as they have settled and some have married. Only one of these folks, however, has progressed to having a baby. I could not have been happier when Miriam and Brooks became the first of our little group from Hume Fogg to have children when their daughter Talley was born last January.

Talley & Miriam came over to play today, and we had a great time with my new tutus. As I mentioned above, Talley just celebrated her first birthday, so she even got to wear her Happy Birthday hat. These are a few cute ones of the many that we got. More to come.

Thanks for coming over girls!

Bridal Gala on Sunday

I am so excited about Sunday's Bridal Gala at Central Park in Murfreesboro. If you have not heard of Central Park, it is a new event venue with a feel similar to the Factory in Franklin. They have converted an old warehouse into a wedding/reception/party space with that same urban feel...Lisa Pancake is the Event Coordinator there and she is wonderful to work with.

Tonight the Pre-Gala festivities will begin with a special reception at 6:00pm, followed by the actual booth set-up on Saturday and the Gala on Sunday from 11-4. If you are planning your wedding for the Middle Tennessee area, I highly recommend that you attend this show. Visit the website using the link above for a $2 off coupon.

Now, I know it is supposed to snow a little bit on Sunday, but that has never stopped us before, right? So, go ahead and brave the blizzard (ha ha) and come and see us at the show.

Some important things to know:
1. I debut my new packages & pricing at this show every year. If you are currently looking at a wedding package/price on my website or in my promo materials that you like, you need to call me before Sunday. I only have one session on Friday so if you are ready to meet with me, I have some time. Don't delay.
2. I will have a giveaway at my booth, so please come by to register for the drawing. I will announce the giveaway on the blog before the show- and it's going to rock, so be sure to check back.

Leave a comment if you're coming to the show so I can look for you there!

Test Post from Blackberry

If you can read this post, I just learned how to post to my blog from my Blackberry. Hooray!

My beautiful Valentine

Well, so you all know that I was out of town for a week leading up to Valentine's Day. I had a great time staying with Brad's Aunt, but I was so ready to come home to my husband. We figured out that this was the longest time we had ever been away from each other.

We were so excited to see each other and to exchange gifts for Valentine's Day. I was so surprised to receive this beautiful necklace, and a matching ring. It is pretty in the picture, but it doesn't even do it justice to seeing it in person. Didn't he do a great job?

First Snow of the Winter

SNOW!!! From my stay in Bolivar last week I was able to experience my first real snow of the winter. We got about 4-5 inches of snow on Friday night. It was a little treacherous while driving home from Memphis, but we made it and then nestled in to watch as the yard was covered quickly. This is a view of the front yard when we got home at about 4:00pm, and then again just before dark, about 6pm.

A sweet note from Sarah...

I did some pictures for Sarah & Scott and baby Carter a few weeks back. Sarah sent me a really nice note today...I thought I might share a piece of it...

"Thanks again for taking our pictures...they're wonderful! I cry
everytime I look through them! :) You truly have a gift, and we've
been blessed by it! :) With thanks, Sarah"

Thank you, Sarah. Thank you to all of you who send such kind remarks to keep me encouraged and full of momentum in moving this business forward!

Have a great Sunday.

Holli & Scott Engagement Session

As promised, I wanted to share a slideshow from Holli & Scott's Engagement Session last Saturday in downtown Nashville. Can you tell they are both musicians? I was really impressed with the way the location they chose for the photos seemed to reflect their personalities.

Full coverage of their Engagement Session will be available soon. Pre-register to see all of the images by clicking here.

PS. I found a great wi-fi spot at the Apple Store in Germantown. Think Green Hills Mall turned inside out, and that's what this mall is like.

Hanging out in West Tennessee

Hello from Bolivar, Tennessee. For the next several days I am hanging out with my husband's Aunt while she recovers from double knee replacement surgery. She is really doing well. We even had a little "retail-therapy" at Super Target today.

After spending the day driving to her physical therapy in Memphis, having some lunch, shopping, running a few errands, then driving home (about an hour from her house), I was finally able to get some time in front of my computer from about 3:00-10:00.

I finished editing and putting together a slideshow for Holli & Scott's Engagement Session that I shot on Saturday. I will post that show and a couple images tomorrow, when we get back to Memphis and I track down a high-speed internet connection. Hopefully I will also have time to upload the full event to Pictage.

Hope you had a great day. Look out for those images tomorrow.

One Step Ahead with Gary Fong

I had a late night out but as you heard from my previous post, I really learned a lot about my business at Gary Fong's One Step Ahead Seminar last night at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Nashville. Gary began photographing weddings when he was 23 and retired as a wealthy man in his early 40's. As he will tell you, his photography is good, but his business and sales skills are fabulous. He really knows how to take care of his clients.

As the Pictage User Group (PUG) Leader for Nashville, I also had the opportunity to work the Pictage table and talk to lots of photographers who were considering using Pictage for their comprehensive online lab needs. We created a blog for the TN PUG as well, so that Pictage Users in TN can keep up with meetings, share info, etc.

I am preparing to be out of town for a week, as I will be traveling to West TN to visit family. I will have access to email through my Blackberry, but will have limited time on the internet. You're in for some more audio posts for sure!

Welcome to my New Blog

Many of you have followed my "Xanga" Blog since I began writing it in June 2005. I really appreciate your interest and hope it has been fun to pull up the page every week or so and find out what's going on in my world. I have decided to switch to a "Blogger" Blog, because it is free, and I am able to host it on my own domain name. Now, if you want to read the blog, you can just type in www.alisonbynum.com instead of going to my website and going to the "News" page.

I am keeping the link to my old blog at the right, under the link to my website. I figured that many of you would still want to have access to your photos or slideshows that I have posted for you there. And, it's a part of my history, so I just can't bear to get rid of it yet. Maybe one day, but not just yet.

I have five sessions worth of photos to edit and post, so I will be busy over the next week. Taz's newborn session, Emily's maternity session, Jonah's 3 month session, Holli & Scott's engagement session and Will's 3 month session are all on my schedule to be edited and posted. I am also shooting a Valentine session tomorrow for a client and will add that one to the mix, though it may not be something I can post and share. And I have some fun pictures of Sophie, Macklin & Elijah to share soon too.

Let me know what you think of the new blog and blog address by leaving your comments below.
